Pregabalin is a commonly used drug in neurology, with anti-epileptic, sedative and anti-anxiety effects.  The mechanism of antiepileptic action of pregabalin is still unclear.  In animal studies, pregabalin showed anticonvulsive activity in animal models of various types of epilepsy, and its activity in animal models was several times stronger than that of gabapentin.  

Clinically, pregabalin is commonly used for the following conditions.  One is to improve neuralgia, including peripheral neuralgia caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, sciatica, trigeminal neuralgia, postoperative toothache, arthritis, etc.  

The second is anti-epilepsy, used for the adjuvant treatment of partial seizures of epilepsy.  The third is anti-anxiety, for anxiety disorder, social phobia auxiliary treatment, etc.
